BOSSIER ANGLERS KNOW HOW TO HOOK 'EM
What better way to spend the summer than fishing? That is what a number of high school students from Bossier Schools have been doing, not just for pleasure but for sport.
The 2012 Student Angler Federation (SAF) Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship was held June 16 on the Red River, just outside of Shreveport/Bossier. The two-person team event is for students in grades 9-12 and drew anglers from across the state, including a number of Bossier boys.
They did well, snagging some top honors. A team from Houma placed first, but Bailey Brit (Benton High School) and Trace Burnham (Airline High) reeled in a second place finish. JP Kimbrough (Benton High) and his partner from North Desoto High, Jared Rascoe, took third place honors.
In fifth place, Garrett Malone and Bobby Hawn from Haughton High School. Cameron Mattison and Chad Poulsen (Airline High) came in eighth; Brandon Grove and Tate Messina (Airline) claimed an eighth place finish; Weston Bates and Mic Mabry (LA New Tech at Plain Dealing) snagged 12th place; Jarod Keith and Tyler Walker (Haughton) made a 14th place finish; Cade Gordon and Justin Markiel (Benton High) reeled in a 17th place win and Mason Roark and Nick Rizzo (Airline) claimed an 18th place finish.
Way to go, guys! Enjoy the rest of your summer pulling them in hook, line and sinker.
