IT'S A "FAMILY FEUD" ON THE FIELD

When Benton High School football coach Bryan George steps onto the field Thursday night at Bossier High School for the Freshmen Jamboree, it will be a family face-off.

That's because Coach George's Benton Tigers will be playing the Bossier Bearkats, coached by his dad, David George. Needless to say, there has been some good-natured rivalry and "trash talking" going on back and forth between father and son.

"It's kind of a psyche-out kind of game," Bryan George said, when explaining the barbs being exchanged. "It's like 'Guess what we're going to do?' Neither of us means anything by it because at the end of the day we love each other."

That doesn't mean Coach David George and his team are going to go easy on his son and the Tigers . "I don't care if I'm playing Tiddlywinks, I want to win!" the Bossier High coach said. "Even growing up, I didn't let him win. If he won, he won. We're both competitive like that."

Bryan George interjected, "We'll see what happens at the end of the game when the scoreboard lights up."

Both agree, though, after the game they will probably go to dinner together and tell each other "good job."

So where is Mom/Wife Holly George's allegiance on the field? This is where it gets even more interesting.

"I don't know because I work at Haughton High," Holly George said. "My friends are trying to find me a shirt with purple, green and red on it." And one more thing to add to the mix; mother, father and son all graduated from Parkway High. Talk about a family feud on the grid-iron!

If you go to Thursday's Freshmen Jamboree at Bossier High, it's Parkway vs. Minden at 4:30 p.m. Airline faces off against LA New Tech at Plain Dealing at 5:20 p.m. North Desoto and Haughton square off at 6:10 p.m. Then, it's Bossier vs. Benton at 7 p.m.

 May the best win!
