CAN'T PAY FOR COLLEGE? HELP IS HERE

  Bossier Schools has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the districts nationwide to have access to data to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  Completing the FAFSA is a critical factor in helping make higher education possible for thousands of students. It is used to determine eligibility for federal aid, such as Pell and other grants, and also serves as the gateway to student loans, work-study opportunities and other aid. 

  "If students don't think they can pay for college, they won't apply for college," said U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. "Giving more young people access to the tools they need to apply for federal student aid is a key part of our strategy to make America number one in the world for college graduates by 2020."

  The U.S. Department of Education's hope is this will help boost the number of high schoolers going on to college dramatically. Simplifying the FAFSA to make it shorter and more user-friendly has been a key part of the Administration's efforts to increase access to college.
