Meet Kay Thompson
I am the curriculum coordinator for ELA and Social Studies for grades 3-5 for Bossier Parish. Before becoming a curriculum coordinator, I was a classroom teacher for thirty years. My experience in teaching has involved many grade levels: first grade, third grade, fourth grade, sixth grade, and seventh grade. My expertise is ELA (reading, writing, and English). While teaching, I served as the middle school facilitator for the Bossier Parish new teacher program, Bossier First.
Keeping up with the latest trends in education and learning new ideas is what I enjoy most about my job. Serving on state committees, keeps me in touch with leaders in other school systems which has been a great way to learn innovative ideas. I am here to serve, support, and guide you as you teach the precious children in our school system. Working as a team, we can offer the best education possible for our children in Bossier Parish.
Many of my family members are involved in education. Education is a passion for us. My daughter, Kelle Ogilvie, is the high school ELA Curriculum Coordinator for our school system, my brother, Buddy Canal, is an assistant principal at a Ouachita Parish middle school, and my niece, Kristin Norris, is a social studies middle school teacher . Together we have almost every area of education covered.:)The best thing about family members being educators is that we keep each other informed of all current trends in education at all the different grade levels.
I am always open to new ideas. Please feel free to share with me. I value you and your suggestions. My door is always open to you- come by and see me at my office at BIC.
