What Does It Mean To Be Involved?
Parent involvement.PNG

It can mean a lot of different things.  It is up to you to decide what is right for you.

You can be involved:

At home

You don’t need to be an expert in education.  You can help your child by:

·         Encouraging learning

·         Promoting a healthy lifestyle

·         Communicating openly and regularly

At school

You can get involved at your child’s school in a number of ways.  You can:

·         Go to parent-teacher conferences

·         Attend special events

·         Share your knowledge and experience through volunteer activities

Although you may not have a lot of free time, there are still ways to be involved with your child’s school!

In the community

As a parent, you can make your voice heard within the community.  Your involvement may help your child’s school receive additional support.  This may lead to:

·         More funding for the school system

·         Better school facilities

·         Increased awareness of the importance of quality education

·         More volunteering in schools and other assistance from community members

You can benefit, too!  Involvement in the community can lead to new friendships and professional contacts.

You don’t need to do it all.

It may be overwhelming if you try to do too much too fast.  Decide the best way to get involved based on your:

·         Child’s needs

·         Abilities or skills

·         Interests or hobbies

·         Schedule and time availability

Remember, the most important thing is that you get involved.  It’s up to you to decide how to do it.
