Hello, military families and welcome to Bossier Parish Schools. I am here to help ease the transition for the military connected students moving to our district and serve as your navigator to promote smooth school transition.  I am available to help solve challenges related to relocation and separations and serve as the liaison between district staff, incoming military families and installation leadership.

Please contact me via phone or email in order to answer all of your school related questions including registration, special education, resources, school zones and any others related to school transition.

  1. Children of members of the United States military personnel residing on Barksdale Air Force Base and zoned to Kerr Elementary School, Waller Elementary School, Rusheon Middle School or Bossier High School shall be permitted to attend any grade-appropriate school within the Bossier Parish School district, conditioned only on capacity of the receiving school, as determined by the School Board, and a mandatory annual review process.
  2. The Bossier Parish School Board reserves the right to deny approval of an applicant’s School of Choice if the school/or grade(s) has reached its functional capacity.
  3. The parent/legal guardian must complete a School of Choice Application for each child and submit to Student Services along with the required written documentation:  a) proof that the parent/legal guardian is a member of the military and stationed at BAFB  b) proof that the military-dependent child resides with the parent/legal guardian on BAFB (housing assignment or current lease).  No application will be considered unless all information and required documentation is provided.
  4. After applicant receives notification of School of Choice approval, registration may be completed at the selected school.
  5. Once registered at the School of Choice, no transfer can be made to any other Bossier Parish School other than the school in the student’s designated attendance zone.  School of Choice enrollment is approved for an entire school level (elementary, middle, and high school).  Approved School of Choice applicants must provide their own transportation to and from school.
  6. Families not residing on BAFB do not qualify for School of Choice.
  7. Active military personnel living on BAFB may choose to attend schools in their attendance zone and transportation will be provided.
  8. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) eligibility requirements are not governed by the Bossier Parish School Board.  All high school athletic eligibility issues will be determined by the LHSAA.
