Special Programs/Professional Development Department

The Bossier Parish Special Programs and Professional Development Department plans, implements, coordinates and documents current research, professional development, and grant writing initiatives for the Bossier Parish School Board. We help coordinate and document  district level professional development training sessions, administer the new teacher training/evaluation programs, and assist schools and departments with site based professional development and grant writing efforts.

Personnel from the Special Programs/Professional Development Department include Debbie Hays, Supervisor; Martha Patten, facilitator; and Minnie Malmay, Special Programs/Professional Development Specialist.

The department is located in the Bossier Instructional Center, 2719 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111

Bossier FIRST Program

The Bossier FIRST (Framework for Inducting, Retaining, and Supporting Teachers) Program was established in 2001. Supervisor, Debbie Hays, oversees the program. The team members for the 2010-2011 school year include Martha Patten, Polly Goslin-High School, Mona Duncan-Middle School, and Teresa Doss-Elementary/SE. Team members work to plan, implement, and support "NEW" as well as experienced teachers' initiatives. The goal of the program is to provide assistance and training for teachers to enable them to achieve success in the education profession.
