About Workplace Safety
Workplace Safety is comprised of three Industry-Based Credentials, NCCER Core, OSHA 10 hour Construction, and First AID/CPR. All of these credentials introduce the student to basic safety awareness on a work site. Completion of these areas of study will enable a student to have a better chance of entering the workforce.
NCCER Core, a construction-oriented subject, relates to being introduced to basic hand tools as well as powered hand tools used in the construction business. Emphasis is placed on inspection of the tools and proper handling of the tools in a working environment.
OSHA 10 hour Construction, also a construction-oriented subject, touches on several areas of safety-related activities ranging from the basic introduction to OSHA, Fall Protection, Personal Protection Equipment, and Hazard Communication. Just as NCCER places an emphasis on safety, the OSHA 10 material is also an introduction to safety procedures relative to the construction industry.
Upon completion of this course, the student should have earned the credentials listed above. These areas are essential elements to entering the workplace and these credentials show potential employers that the applicant has a basic awareness of what it takes to carry out their tasks in a safe manner.
