About Mechelle Harris
Biography
It is my pleasure to share my knowledge and work experience with my students as they work towards rewarding business careers. I look forward to learning new and innovative ideas from my students as well. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, earned at Jackson State University, a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA), and a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree (MAT) both earned at Louisiana Tech University.
I have taught business for 20 years. In addition to teaching full-time at BPSTIL, I am a part-time teacher at Bossier Parish Community College where I teach Financial and Managerial Accounting and other business courses as needed. I also previously taught at Louisiana Technical College. I elected to teach full-time with Bossier Parish Schools in 2012. Prior to teaching, I worked as an accountant and manager where I held various positions.
I am the parent of two fantastic children and a daughter-in-law. My son is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and Pepperdine University and lives and works in Washington, D.C. with his family. My daughter is a recent Howard University graduate. She now lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.
