    Biography

I attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1983, and later earned an M.S. in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University. I worked for 17 years in the defense electronics industry as an engineer and project manager. After moving back home to North Louisiana, I completed an alternative certification program at LSU-Shreveport in mathematics and am also a certified AP Physics teacher, NCCER Electrical Level 1 instructor, and Electrical Training Alliance Interim Credentials Instructor. I helped pioneer the NICERC Regional Autonomous Robotics Competition and have worked with NICERC and the Louisiana Tech University College of Engineering and Science to develop and pilot new STEM curricula, and conduct professional development for STEM teachers.

I am married to my wonderful wife Carol (a registered nurse). We have two awesome children, Nate and Jessica; both graduates of Benton High School and graduates of Louisiana Tech and LSU-Baton Rouge with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry respectively. Carol and I live in Rocky Mount and enjoy our life in the country with our family and dogs.
