• What are the expectatons for parents?

    • Parents or caregivers are considered to be their child's learning coach.

     

    • Parents must complete the annual registration through OnCourse to monitor attendance and academic progress.  

     

    • Parent and student MUST attend the BSVLP Open House the first week of school.  

     

    • Parents must ensure they make arrangements to pick up the parish issued chromebook, and monitor that this chromebook is only used for academic purposes.

     

    • Parents must attend parent/teacher conferences when scheduled or requested.

     

    • Parents must be committed to ensuring that their child is completing all daily, required activities.

     

    • Parent will need to reach out and contact the teacher(s) when help is needed.

     

    • Parents must answer emails and other modes of communication from the teacher/school administrator within 24 hours.

     

    • If requested by the administrator, parent(s) and student must attend a face-to-face conference.

     

    • Parents need to understand the value of true assessments when teachers are working to prepare their students.  Parents must ensure assessments are completed by the student without unauthorized assistance supporting academic integrity at all times.

     

    • Parents are expected to set up and maintain a daily work schedule for the student, including participation in virtual class meetings.

     

    • Parents are expected to set up a dedicated learning space in the home free of distractions and interruptions. (pets, TV, siblings, etc.)

     

    • Parents ensure that students follow the established classroom rules and expectations for virtual learning and the virtual classroom.

     

    • Parents are expected to pick up all hard copy materials from the student's zoned school when needed to complete assignments.

     

    • Parents are expected to make arrangements to pick up needed devices and to maintain these devices and supplies and return them to the BSVLP when the virtual obligation ends.

     

    • Parents are required to follow federal and state laws regarding student privacy and FERPA.  This includes not recording lessons or sessions and not posting photos and videos on social media.
