The PDH Cheer squad proudly cheers at football, girls' basketball, and boys' basketball games, and attends & performs at local events in our community.  The members proudly serve as unofficial school ambassadors promoting school pride and community spirit.  They have performed & painted faces at Plain Dealing festivals and the Plain Dealing Back-to-School event at the Plain Dealing Community Center.

Squad members are encouraged to participate in other school sports and activities.  Members are also to hold jobs and volunteer within our community.  Practices and game attendances are mandatory, but every effort is made to encourage squad members to be well-rounded student athletes.  Our cheerleaders participated in girls' basketball, softball, track, National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Student Council, 4-H, and the Paw Print.

Cheer Clinic and Tryouts are held in late March/early April. They are open to any student in grades 7-12 that meet targeted criteria including a minimum 2.0 GPA, teacher recommendations, and good school attendance.  The Cheer fee is minimal compared to other schools in the area, but is necessary to purchase uniforms.  Cheer supplies, travel expenses, and camp are funded by donations and fundraising throughout the year.  Cheer practices begin shortly after the squad is announced, continuing throughout the summer and the next school year.  The team usually attends cheer camp in June or July, working hard to learn new routines, cheers, and stunts.

Prior to tryouts, prospective squad members are required to attend an informational meeting and are supplied with an informational packet detailing cheer squad requirements and expectations.  Parent and guardian signatures are required for tryouts and a parent/guardian meeting is held after the squad is announced.
