Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Karen Bean

Mrs. Bean is a native of Baton Rouge, but she has lived "up north" in Shreveport/Bossier for the past twenty years.  Mrs. Bean received her Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Louisiana Tech University.  After working in the corporate world for several years, Mrs. Bean went back to school and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and a School Librarian certification from LA Tech.  She has been teaching since 2008 and has experience in elementary, middle, and high school.  Mrs. Bean has taught exclusively in Title I schools to at-risk students, and she believes that every child can be empowered to learn.  Mrs. Bean and her husband have a daughter and a son who both attend Bossier schools.  She believes that Bossier Parish Schools offer the BEST education to students.

Mrs. Bean agrees with Roald Dahl, who said, "I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted.  Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage."
