  • Mrs. Bean joined the virtual team in August 2019.  She is a native of Baton Rouge, LA, but has lived "up north" in Shreveport/Bossier for so long that it's now her home away from home.  Mrs. Bean received her Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Louisiana Tech University.  After working in the corporate world for several years, Mrs. Bean went back to school and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching and a School Librarian certification from LA Tech.  She has been teaching for 15 years and has experience in elementary, middle, and high school.  Mrs. Bean has taught exclusively in Title I schools to at-risk students, and she believes that every child can be empowered to learn.  Mrs. Bean and her husband have a daughter and a son who both attend Bossier schools.  She believes that Bossier Parish Schools offer the BEST education to students!

  • Mrs. Gayla R. Fowler currently serves as a teacher for the Bossier Schools Virtual Academy located at Bossier High School in Bossier Parish Louisiana (grades 9-12). She has taught in this capacity of BSVLA at Bossier High School for the last 5 years, and the academy at Butler Educational Complex since its inception in 2012, which she had the privilege of helping to plan and initiate its inception . She has worked in several at-risk programs located at Butler Educational Complex, such as over age 8th graders, at-risk pre-ged/Hiset programs, and at Bossier Achievement Center from 2001 until 2012. While at BEC she helped develop the PBIS Program at Butler until BSVLA was moved to Bossier High School due to the growth of the Academy. She has also worked closely with the curriculum department to adopt and align several different software to use for virtual learning as well as credit recovery and remediation summer programs for the parish for the past 15+ years.  She and a co-teacher also piloted the move to use Google for the parish.  She has been a part of several awarded grants.

    This year she was awarded the great honor of Bossier High School’s Teacher of the Year.  She is a graduate of Parkway High School (1988) and attended Bossier Parish Community College with an Associates in Arts Degree.  She then earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Centenary College (area of concentration social studies). 

    Mrs. Fowler is married with one son, 29 (who serves in the United States Air Force) and a daughter-in-law, 27. She has 4 dogs and a cat, and 2 grand-dogs.
