MIDDLE SCHOOL CONCEPT
What is Middle School Concept?
Students in grades six through eight experience great changes in their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Middle School Concept is a philosophy of education that attempts to recognize and meet the unique needs of these early adolescents.
How does Cope apply the Middle School Concept?
At Cope, we use the team approach advocated by Middle School Concept. Two to four content-area teachers work with homeroom teams of students who share the same schedule much of the day. This allows teachers and students to know each other better and develops a "family" atmosphere.
We also encourage exploration of varied interests for our students through extracurricular activities, elective classes, and Enrichment Time for Cougars (ETC). ETC is a regularly scheduled activity period when students participate in club meetings or advisory groups with faculty mentors.
