My name is Afiya Code, and I am excited to be the principal of Greenacres Middle School. I am entering my 24th year in education. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication at Louisiana State University Baton Rouge, my Alternative Certification in English and my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership at Louisiana State University Shreveport.
I started my teaching career in Morehouse Parish. I taught first grade for one year before moving to Bossier. After moving here, I taught nine years in Caddo Parish. In Bossier, I taught 7th grade ELA for three years at Greenacres Middle. In 2012, I became the Curriculum Coach for Rusheon Middle School, followed by the parish ELA Curriculum Coordinator for grades 6th-8th. Most recently, I have been serving as an Assistant Principal at Cope Middle School. I have been married for 20 years to Terence Code. We have two daughters, Sara Griffin and Alexiya Code. We also have one grandson, Dominic Griffin.
I believe that my purpose is to educate and be a champion for students even if they don’t believe in themselves. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the families, faculty, staff, and community of Greenacres. My goal is to continue to LEAD the Mustangs to academic and social success as our motto states.
