What makes Bossier Schools special?

  • Many things. For one, our employees are exemplary and their dedication, unparalleled. Every day they strive to not only educate, but also motivate and inspire students to achieve their greatest potential. A supportive community is also key to Bossier Schools’ success. The citizens of our great parish recognize the vitality of a community goes hand in hand with a strong public school system, resulting in Bossier being named one of the fastest growing school districts in Louisiana.

What really sets Bossier Schools apart, though, is the relentless desire of our staff and students to serve others. "Helping Hearts: The Power of We" is just one example of how Bossier Schools pays it forward. For the past six years, each of our schools and centers has focused on helping people, organizations and groups in need, both locally and abroad. The district also hosts the largest one-day volunteer effort in Bossier Parish called “Day of Service” in partnership with the United Way of northwest Louisiana, where students and employees work side by side and put in sweat equity to help area non-profit agencies. The Red Kettle Challenge is an eagerly anticipated event in December that raises money for The Salvation Army and Bossier Schools leads the pack in supporting the American Heart Association.

It is our tenet that character education is not a lesson taught from a textbook, but best learned through actions, not words. As one student put it, we get out of our community what we are willing to put into it. That is “Helping Hearts: The Power of We.”
