Under the direction of Parkway Band Director Mark Minton, the Pride of Pantherland has been no stranger to winning numerous awards, titles and accolades. He strives to shine the spotlight on his students, giving them every opportunity to shine. But recently, the tables were turned on the 28-year Bossier Parish music educator with an honor he was not expecting.
During the Northwestern State University Invitational, the School of Creative and Performing Arts (CAVA) surprised Minton as this year’s inductee in its Hall of Fame. Minton was cited for his major contributions to the success of the music profession and NSU, where he received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees.
In addition to directing Parkway’s music program. Minton is also the co-founder and assistant conductor of the Red River Wind Orchestra, a professional concert band. He is also an officer with the Louisiana Music Education Association and is affiliated with several other professional music organizations.
Minton has had a profound impact on thousands of students and the Parkway Band program, and Bossier Schools is elated he is being recognized as a Hall of Fame inductee.
