Child Nutrition Benefits Offered to Bossier Parish Students
Posted 5/20/20

Logo for BPSBLouisiana was recently approved for the new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program, which provides extra help to buy groceries for children that normally receive free and reduced-price meals at school. This includes all families attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school.

The one-time debit card will come loaded with $285 per child and can be used at any store that accepts SNAP to buy SNAP-eligible food items.

Bossier Parish students who were in PreK-12th grade during the 2019-20 academic year and normally receive free or reduced-price meals at school automatically qualify, as well as children who attend CEP schools. Families, however, must apply for the benefit by June 7, 2020 by clicking here. Please note the information you enter must be an exact match of the information in Illuminate; if it does not match, the state system will reject your application.

If a child was not receiving free or reduced meals when school closed, but may now qualify due to changes in their family’s financial situation, they can apply for free and reduced lunch at www.myschoolapps.com. If approved, that child will become eligible to receive the one-time P-EBT benefit. Have questions? Get answers here.

It is estimated about 85-percent of all Louisiana students in PreK through 12th grade are eligible. The P-EBT program was authorized by Congress in the Families First Coronavirus Respond Act of 2020.
