BIS Finishes Top 5 at Archery Worlds Competition

The Benton Intermediate Archery Team stormed Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on June 12, 2021, but not for sand and sun. The Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the John T. Rhodes Sports Center were the sites of the National Archery in Schools Program's (NASP) Open Championships. Our fifth grade archers who refer to this competions as Worlds, finished in the top five for both the Bullseye and 3D divisions.

"Our kids took 4th place in Bullseye and 3rd place in 3D," team sponsor Michelle Frederick says, "against 16 other teams."

The team's top five finish comes after a very successful year of shooting despite COVID-19 restrictions. They won the Benton Bullseye Tournament, the North Regionals, and State Tournament in both Bullseye and 3D.

As sixth graders, these students will shoot as part of the Benton Middle School team. While Mrs. Frederick will still see these students around the Intermediate campus, she wishes them the best of luck as they continue on in the sport.
