Universal Free School Meal Program Ends

The federally-funded Universal Free School Meals program that made breakfast and lunch available at no charge to all students during the pandemic will no longer be offered during the 2022-23 school year. That means it is especially important for parents to apply for free and reduced meal benefits even if their child attends a school that is part of the Community Eligibility Program where they will continue to eat for free.

An approved application can benefit students even if they do not plan on using the meal benefits, because they may become eligible for P-EBT cards and free or reduced testing fees, such as the ACT and SAT.

The application process is easy and information is kept confidential. Just click here to apply. Paper applications are also available at all Bossier Parish schools.

Need assistance filling out the application or have additional questions? Our Child Nutrition department would be happy to help. Just call (318) 549-5046.

As the school year progresses, and there are changes in household income, family size or living arrangements, parents are encouraged to reapply even if their child was not approved previously.
