BPSTIL Student First to Receive Child Development Accreditation

Whitlee Fegett set her sights high and her hard work is paying off. The Airline senior was applauded at a recent ceremony for being the first student in Bossier Parish – and possibly the state – to meet the stringent criteria to earn the Child Development Associates (CDA) credential.

The CDA credential is nationally recognized and gives Fegett the opportunity to provide quality child care either in-home or at child care centers. To earn it, she had to acquire 120 hours of qualified professional development; 480 hours of professional work experience; pass the Child Development Associate Certificate Exam and pass a verification visit.

Fegett has been enrolled in the Early Child Care and Pre-Educator programs at Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning (BPSTIL) and earned the required hours for the credential at a preschool in Benton.

Congratulations to Fegett for pursuing her dream of becoming an early childhood educator for our future Bossier Parish students.
