State Lawmaker Presents HHS with First Framed National Motto
Louisiana District 9 Representative Dodie Horton presented Bossier Schools Superintendent Mitch Downey with the first of many framed classroom posters of the national motto to commemorate legislation she introduced.
Rep. Horton authored House Bill 8/Act 264 requires that public schools in Louisiana display the national motto “In God We Trust” in all classrooms. Governor John Bel Edwards signed the legislation into law in June 2023.
Rep. Horton chose Haughton High School, which is in her district, to be the first to receive a framed poster. She is purchasing framed posters to be placed in all 1,760 classrooms throughout Bossier Parish.
“These are going in each classroom in Bossier Parish to be displayed where every student can see them every day as opposed to just the main office where they currently are now, so we can’t thank you enough for the donation to the school system,” said Bossier Schools Superintendent Mitch Downey.
