BPSTIL EMS Student Helps Save Man’s Life

Cole Morgan may only be in his first semester of the Emergency Medical Responder program at Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning (BPSTIL), but he has already saved a man’s life.

On October 6, the Benton High School senior was helping out at the Benton Sports Complex when he noticed an elderly man had collapsed and ran to check on him. The man did not have a pulse and Morgan’s instincts immediately kicked in, beginning CPR until a medic unit could arrive to take over. Thanks to the EMS student’s quick actions, that gentleman is alive today.

BPSTIL Instructors Rose Rivera and Dawn Young could not be more proud of their student and presented him a certificate of appreciation in class. Morgan is, indeed, a hero and he certainly is in the eyes of the man who is still alive today, thanks to his quick actions.
