Logan McConathy will serve the next 10 months as the interim District 5 Bossier Parish School Board Representative after being appointed to the position in a seven to one vote during a Special Session of the Board. The seat was left vacant after former board member Adam Bass was elected to the Louisiana Senate.
McConathy owns and operates a State Farm insurance agency and McConathy Investments, LLC. Education runs in his family’s blood. His wife teaches in Bossier Parish and their children attend Bossier Schools; his parents and in-laws served for decades in the education system and his grandfather served as Superintendent of Bossier Schools for 11 years.
“I believe Bossier Parish has thrived and a vast part of that is because of the school system,” McConathy said. “I want to continue that excellence as best as I can.”
When asked by a board member what he sees as the greatest challenge faced by the Bossier Parish School Board, McConathy replied “We are growing so fast that we don’t necessarily have the capacity for more students.” He continued by saying “They are doing the best they can, but there are some real challenges down the line that we are going to have to figure out.”
McConathy will be officially sworn in as the interim District 5 Representative at the Bossier Parish School Board meeting on January 18 and will serve until the statewide general election is held November 5, 2024.
