Bossier Schools Make Clean Sweep at State Archery Tourney
It was a clean sweep at the 2022 State Archery Tournament and a bit of deja vu. Benton schools took the state team title in each division.
Benton Intermediate claimed the state win in 3D and Bullseye for the elementary division; Benton Middle clinched the 3D and Bullseye championships among all middle schools and Benton High took first place honors and the state title in the 3D high school competition.
The top three female archers in the state also hail from Bossier Schools. Madalie Davis, who attends Kingston Elementary, is at the top of her game ranking first out of all 91 elementary girls that competed at State.
Zoe Bayne attends Haughton Middle School and shot a perfect 50 at 15 meters to win the middle school title. She is ranked first out of 143 middle school girls and was also the number one female archer in the state tourney, earning her a total of $4,500 in scholarships.
Madison Burson is a senior at Haughton High and made her Buccaneer family proud. She finished her school career on top, ranking first out of 65 and winning the high school female archer division. Complete tournament results can be found at nasptournaments.org.
The archery season is not over just yet for these teams. Eastern Nationals will be May 12-14 in Louisville, Kentucky. Then, the Open Championships from the Nationals Tournament will be held in June in Louisville.
Congratulations to these archers for hitting the bullseye and best of luck in the next round!
