BMS Takes Team Trophy, Goodwin Wins Second State Golfing Title
The Benton Middle School golf team hit two holes in one, winning consecutive United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) titles at both the team and individual levels.
Eighth grader Grace Goodwin, a rising star in the golfing world, delivered an exceptional performance, earning her second consecutive state title. Alongside her talented teammate, Addi Wright, they showcased remarkable skill and determination throughout the competition.
“It was a challenging start,” said Goodwin, who recorded a score of +7 on the front 9. “I really had to focus on the back 9 to shoot a +3 to win the tournament.”
This triumph marks Goodwin's second consecutive state title in just two years.
The pairing of Goodwin and Wright claimed the highly-coveted team title as well.
“Benton Middle School is thrilled with the achievements of Grace and Maddie,” said Dr. Kyle Machen, principal at BMS. “We also want to congratulate the coaching staff, led by Coach Bradley TerHaar, for their tireless efforts in mentoring and guiding these young student-athletes."
