Bossier and state leaders hold Louisiana Literacy Leader banner

Bossier Schools was applauded by the state for impressive gains made in literacy proficiency during the 2024-25 year, marking a 22.8 percent increase.

At its August meeting in Baton Rouge, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) recognized Bossier Schools for ranking seventh among Top Improving Districts on the literacy screener, more commonly known as DIBELS or Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. The literacy screener is administered to all K-3 students and is a predictor of reading success.

The Louisiana Department of Education credited Bossier Schools for its commitment to early literacy and the effective use of high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based practices, which made a measurable impact on student achievement.

The progress reflected in the DIBELS outcomes is a testament to the hard work and leadership of the entire Bossier Schools team – from school and district leaders to teachers, support staff and students.
