Bossier Schools is celebrating another year of strong academic gains following the release of 2025 state report cards by the Louisiana Department of Education. The district earned a score of 85.6, a 0.4 point increase from last year, maintaining its solid ‘B’ rating. 

Districtwide Highlights 

  • 10th statewide in the High School Progress Index

  • Outperformed the state average in every subgroup measured

  • Bossier Schools earned a position within the top five growth rates statewide in English Language Arts (ELA) based on the percentage of students earning the top two progress levels

  • The district was included among the top nine growth rates in Math based on the percentage of students earning the top two progress levels 

“These results reflect the district’s unwavering commitment to excellence and are a testament to the hard work of students, families, and educators working together to achieve success across all grade levels,” said Bossier Schools Superintendent Jason Rowland. 

The districtwide report card, which is a comprehensive snapshot based on student achievement data, highlights numerous other examples of growth. 

Academic Growth

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Success: 11.1-percent increase in students scoring 3 or higher, boosting the Strength of Diploma Index 

  • Nine ‘A’ Schools: Airline High, Benton High, Haughton High, Benton Middle, Benton Intermediate, Benton Elementary, Kingston Elementary, Legacy Elementary and Stockwell Place Elementary. 

  • Letter Grade Improvements: Three schools demonstrated significant improvement by increasing their letter grade: Benton Intermediate (A), Bellaire Elementary (B), and Princeton Elementary (B).

 

  • Six Opportunity Honorees (top 10-percent performance among students with disabilities, English learners or economically disadvantaged students): Benton High, Curtis Elementary, Haughton High, Kingston Elementary, Legacy Elementary, and Stockwell Place Elementary. 

  • 17 Top Gains Honorees (demonstrated exceptional student progress): Airline High, Apollo Elementary, Benton Elementary, Benton Intermediate, Benton Middle, Benton High, Elm Grove Elementary, Elm Grove Middle, Haughton Elementary, Haughton High, Kingston Elementary, Parkway High, Plain Dealing High, R.V. Kerr Elementary, Stockwell Place Elementary, Legacy Elementary, and W.T. Lewis Elementary. 

  • Schools with Performance Score Growth: 19 campuses improved, led by Bellaire Elementary (+7.9 points). Others include: Princeton Elementary, Elm Grove Elementary, Curtis Elementary, Central Park Elementary, Benton Intermediate, Benton High, W.T. Lewis Elementary, Haughton High, T.L. Rodes Elementary, Benton Elementary, Cope Middle, Greenacres Middle, Elm Grove Middle, Waller Elementary, Platt Elementary, Plain Dealing High, Bossier High and Parkway High. 

As Bossier Schools celebrates these accomplishments, the district is already looking ahead to continued progress under Louisiana’s newly revised accountability system, “Grow. Achieve. Thrive.,” which launched this school year. This transition brings an even sharper focus on student growth, readiness, and expanded opportunities, and the first official results under the new framework will be released in 2026.

In preparation, Bossier Schools spent the past year strengthening goal-setting processes, refining how teachers track student performance, and expanding the use of proficiency checks to take a meaningful pulse on learning throughout the year. 

“This collaborative approach helps educators identify emerging needs early, make timely and effective instructional adjustments, and deliver targeted support that keeps students on track for success,” Rowland added. “Through these systems and structures, Bossier Schools remains committed to ensuring every child grows, achieves and thrives.”
