Our 7th graders took part in our annual Read-A-Thon today in the CMS gym. Some familiar faces came back to campus to read aloud to our students to inspire a love of reading. The students learned, relaxed, and snuggled up with a good book! We are so thankful for our 7th grade team who organized this event for our students! It's always a great day to make a Cope difference!
CMS-- 6th grade color wars
Students have an assigned color and can wear a school-appropriate top and bottom in their class color. Wear only a class color shirt with uniform bottoms, or wear a regular uniform for the day. Student jeans are NOT approved. Please email your the homeroom teacher for more information.

CMS 8th graders going to Airline for next school year interested in CROSS COUNTRY:
Any boys or girls interested in running cross country in the fall at Airline need to attend an interest meeting for all grade levels Tuesday, May 20, at 6 pm at the AHS track bleachers! Meeting only, no running!
Tomorrow is Food Truck Day for Cope Middle School Students. Please read BOTH slides as lunch will be available for 6th graders and sweets (snowballs or a brownie) will be available for 7th and 8th graders. It will be a YUMMY time!

Our CMS administration, S2S sponsors, and S2S Ambassador students received a Certificate of Recognition from Barksdale Air Force Base for our comittment to military students and being a Purple Star School. 🏈🏈Attention current sixth grade going into seventh grade boys interested in football for next school year:
Workout day is Monday, May 12 at Cope from 2:30 to 4:30. Summer workout information will be given out to athletes. Tryouts for this grade level will begin on the first day of school in August and will continue through August 14. Students should have t-shirts, shorts, socks, tennis shoes and a water jug with them on Monday.
This past Thursday Mr. Rabon directed our Advanced Band at their 2025 spring concert. It was absolutely impressive!! Awards were given, talent was revealed, and smiles were seen! Cope is blessed to have such a talented group of musicians and a band director who gives his all for them! Excellent job!

CMS 8th graders: Here are the dates for upcoming try-outs for Airline High School. Remember, you must have a completed physical form in hand in order to attend any of these try-outs.
Mr. Budgewater directed the CMS 2025 Spring Choir Concert last night titled "Wicked". It was an amazing experience. The vocal talent of our student groups under Mr. Budgewater's leadershp is absolutely superb! Where words fail, music speaks. Music is what feelings sound like, and we were "all up in our feelings" at the concert!
Airline High School football coaches have been in touch with CMS and GMS about spring football for incoming freshman. As of now, there are no spring workouts for next week. Tomorrow's date for equipment is cancelled. Late this afternoon, we got word that they MAY be able to have workouts next week, but it is not a sure thing. We met with the interested 8th grade boys today and shared the information with them. Information from LHSAA is the problem that has to be worked out, not from our district. We will update parents as soon as we have further information.
