The offices of Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Representative Julia Letlow will be hosting Service Academy Day at LSU-Shreveport on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The event will be in the theatre and theatre lobby of their University Center. Registration will open at 8:30 AM and the event itself at 9 AM. All high school students and their parents, as well as school officials, are welcome to attend for free.
Representatives from America’s Service Academies, including West Point and the Naval and Air Force Academies, will make presentations on what their Academies have to offer. If a student gains admittance to one of those Academies, they will graduate with a bachelor’s degree and become a commissioned officer in our Armed Forces. Additionally, the three Academies mentioned above are tuition-free. We also plan to have presentations from ROTC units attached to local Universities, and a presentation on the Congressional nominations process. Students must receive a nomination to be considered for admittance to most Service Academies, and most nominations come from Members of Congress.
