Plantation Park Elementary was honored at the June 3 Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) meeting as a finalist for the Louisiana School Physical Activity Award!
👏 Principal Rachael Stroud proudly accepted the award, celebrating PPE’s commitment to keeping students active, engaged, and thriving—from PE classes to before- and after-school activities, family events, and even staff involvement!
This recognition highlights schools that go the extra mile in making physical activity a priority. We are incredibly proud of Plantation Park Elementary for leading the way and winning the day!

Bossier Schools will once again be fueling summer superheroes with free, nutritious meals that will be offered weekly starting Tuesday, June 3 at four drive-through sites. Any child 18 years of age and younger is eligible for the summer meal boxes, regardless of income. Each box will contain seven breakfasts and lunches that are kid-friendly, meet nutritional guidelines and are shelf stable, so they do not have to be refrigerated or heated. This program is being offered at no cost to families by the USDA Summer Food Service Program and administered by Bossier Schools Child Nutrition department. Parents or guardians will need to complete this registration form for each child.
Once registration is complete, parents or students can pick up a summer meal box between the hours of 7-11 a.m. every Tuesday until July 29, with the exception of July 1. Drive-through sites this year will be Benton Middle, W.T. Lewis Elementary, Parkway High School and Princeton Elementary.
The summer meal boxes are being provided as part of a federal feeding program to USDA designated rural schools, although any child is eligible to receive them. Last summer, a half-million meals were distributed by the Bossier Schools Child Nutrition department.
“Feeding children during the summer is a challenge for many families who depend on school meals,” said Karla Horton, Child Nutrition Program Supervisor at Bossier Schools. “Last year was a huge success and we are proud to be able to offer the summer meal box program again at no charge to ensure that children are properly nourished and fueled throughout the summer.”
