Bossier Schools has revised its cell phone policy in response to a new state law that restricts students from using cell phones and other electronic devices during the instructional day. Please note the following revisions:
Cell phones must be turned off and stowed during instructional time, including from the time students get on/off the bus or in/out of a personal vehicle while on campus;
Electronic communication devices, including but not limited to personal computers, laptops, electronic instruments, iPads, iPods, tablet devices, e-readers or similar devices, must be powered off and properly stowed for the duration of the school day.
Each violation will result in the collection of the cell phone/electronic device. More information regarding disciplinary action can be found in school handbooks.
*Please note the revised policy does not apply to students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP)/Individualized Accommodation Plan (IAP), Section 504 plan or Individualized Health Plan that requires use of an electronic telecommunication device.

HMS is offering a new elective for 7th and 8th graders. We are offering a yearbook class and are very excited about it. Please have your 7th or 8th grader complete the google form by Friday if they would like to apply for a spot in the class.

The Bossier Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual 'Pack the Bus' school supply drive benefiting Bossier Schools. We hope you'll help out with this year's event! Come by the Wal-Mart Supercenter Thursday, August 1 from 11:30 to 1:30 and drop off much needed supplies to help our teachers fill the gaps in their classrooms.

Parents and students should start arriving at 9:30.
As we get closer to the start of school we know many of you have dress code questions. Here is a reminder of our changes:
- We now have red, navy, gray, and black added to colors.
- We added joggers, but they cannot be sweat pant material or spandex. Dri-fit is fine.
- Belts are optional as long and bottoms are worn properly.
- We did not add cargo pants.
- Shorts must be appropriate in length and students will lose the privilege to wear them. Clothes cannot be body forming.
- Shirts do not have to be tucked in but if they show any mid drift they are too short.
We hope this helps give guidance as we gear up for school.
Grades 3-8 LEAP Student Reports from Spring 2024 were emailed to the primary parent/guardian’s email address today. The email will include instructions for accessing your child’s score reports. If you do not receive the emails, please check your spam folder and ensure that you are checking the email account listed as the primary parent/guardian in OnCourse.
If you purchased spirit wear this summer, you can pick it up from HMS starting July 29 from 8:30 am to 3:00.
We will open the store ONE more time on August 8. We are almost out of shirts in our office. Make sure you order all the items you need.
Don't forget Camp Buccaneer is NEXT WEEK! We are excited to meet our incoming 6th graders.
We encourage you to bring in your school supplies and leave them with your teachers as you meet them.

This week’s books used to be part of our 7th grade curriculum, but are no longer taught in the classroom! HMS cheerleaders hosted all cheer squads from Bossier Parish on our campus for NCA Cheer Camp.
HMS received superior ribbons for their evaluations in chant, cheer, and band chant!
11 girls were nominated for NCA All-American.
Cheer captains Claire Jackson and Bree Carmack were awarded leadership awards.
Kodie Lee was awarded the Pin It Forward award as a stand out camper exemplifying why the world needs cheerleaders!
Big Congratulations to the HMS Cheerleaders for winning the Herkie Award recognizing them as the top team in leadership, teamwork, and good sportsmanship!
HMS Mascots also participated in NCA camp and were awarded many awards for their Spirit and Commitment to building school culture!
